1.
Subsidiary streets, courts, etc are listed under their own name, not under the main street
of which they are part.
Thus ALLEN COURT, HAUXTON ROAD appears under
A and NOT under H.
2.
Streets beginning THE appear twice.
Thus THE CENACLE appears both under
T and under C.
3.
Streets beginning ST. appear as if spelt SAINT, ie between SACKVILLE STREET
and SALISBURY PLACE..
4. After each street is shown the Polling District, eg (H3). This is only relevant when voting on an election day, but the letter part tells you what Ward you are in, from which you can work out who your local councillors are (also your MP). The meaning of the letters is:
A: Abbey Ward F: East Chesterton Ward (*) K: Queen Ediths Ward (*)(**) B: Arbury Ward (*) G: Kings Hedges Ward (*) L: Romsey Ward (*) C: Castle Ward (*) H: Market Ward (*) M: Trumpington Ward (*)(**) D: Cherry Hinton Ward I: Newnham Ward (*) N: West Chesterton Ward (*) E: Coleridge Ward J: Petersfield Ward (*)
(*) Some or all of the Councillors for these wards are Liberal Democrats -
details here.
The respective Councils have lists of councillors of all parties:
City Councillors |
County Councillors
(**) These two Wards are in South Cambridgeshire Constituency (MP Andrew Lansley, Con), except for polling district M3 which is in Cambridge Constituency. The other 12 wards are in Cambridge Constituency (MP David Howarth, Liberal Democrat), except for polling districts D4 & E4 which are in South Cambridgeshire Constituency.
