I ran these maps up for my own amusement, and my wife said
"Why not put them on the Internet?" so here they are. I took the
results back to 1940 from
The World Almanac and Book of Facts 1993 (Pharos Books 1992),
now no longer available on the web.
The continuation backwards I took from
Marty Gasman's U.S. Presidential Elections
, also now defunct.
